Frequently Asked Questions
When does a pool need renovation?
Cracked or flaking finish, open grout joints, water level dropping when the pool is not in use, a filter that cannot keep the water clear and a noisy pump all point to renovation. A leak test and equipment check come first, then the required work is decided.
How can you tell if a pool is leaking?
The bucket test is common: place a bucket of water on a pool step, mark the water level in the bucket and in the pool, and wait 24 hours with the pump off. If the pool level drops clearly more than the bucket, there is a leak beyond evaporation. The location is found with pressure and dye tests.
Can a skimmer pool be converted to an overflow pool?
Yes. The pool edge is rebuilt for a grated overflow channel, a balance tank is added and the pipework is connected to it. The existing structure and surrounding space are assessed during the site survey.
How often should a pool be maintained?
During the season chlorine and pH are tested several times a week; surface and floor cleaning and filter backwashing are done regularly. Sand in sand filters is replaced every few years. Outdoor pools also need season opening and winterising.
